Albino Threadfin Acara

Friendly but big enough to hold their own.

These are 4–5″ Albino Threadfin Acaras (Acarichthys heckelii), listed as male and female separately because there is a real difference between the two. From the fish I get, males usually develop more orange/red color and longer fin streamers. Females are generally fuller-bodied, with softer color and shorter streamers. Both are Albino Heckelii, but the female will not look exactly like the male—and I don’t want to sell her like she will.

This is one of those cichlids that looks delicate but really isn’t. Threadfins are generally peaceful for a fish this size, but they are still big enough to live with other decent-sized fish without being pushed around. Like almost any cichlid, they can become territorial when pairing or breeding.
